Characteristics of Management is Profession

The application of the above tests to management is as follows:

1. Specialized Knowledge

There exists a specialized frame of information underlying the sphere of management. It has well-described concepts, standards, and theories, which can be positioned into exercise & is widely taught in universities as a discipline. It is the main characteristics of management is profession.

2. Restricted Entry Based on Formal Training

Entry to a profession must be based totally on formal education & training. But access to management is only sometimes confined as there is no prescribed qualification to become a supervisor. MBAs are preferred; however, an MBA degree is optional to enter this profession.

3. Representative Association

For the development & law of any profession, the life of a consultant body is a must. For, e.g. The Institute of chartered accountants of India for C.A. Some agencies, including the All India Management Association(AIMA), have been set up for the professionalization of control. But none of these has any authority to prescribe minimum qualification for taking over managerial posts or to alter the functioning of managers & a supervisor doesn’t have to be a member of affiliation.

4. Ethical Code

Every profession ought to have a code of conduct that sets up norms & ethics for its contributors. But there is no universally usual code of conduct for managers.

5. Social Responsibilities

Managers recognize their social responsibilities towards customers, employees & other agencies. Their actions impact social norms & values. They are guided because of service to others in preference to earning profits.

6. Professional Fee

The managers who act as consultants charge expert charges for the service supplied to their customers, as in the case of attorneys.

Conclusion

Management can be taken into consideration as a career due to the fact it’s miles properly-described body of expertise, sure affiliation of managers were fashioned, in current commercial enterprise formal schooling & training in control is needed. But it cannot be wholly regarded as a profession as it does now not satisfy all the requirements of a career, including:
i) There is not any moral code of conduct for managers.
ii) Management does not have an all-India consultant affiliation.
iii) Entry to control career is sometimes restrained.

Thus, the professionalization of management still needs to be completed.
